Party wishlanterns are the perfect accessory for the Chinese Valentine’s Day. It is calculated to be on the 7th day of the 7th lunar month which is the 6th of August this year. Some call this holiday the festival of the double sevens or the Festival of the seven daughters. There is a very interesting story behind this holiday and it explains the occurrence of the number seven. Here is the most popular version. The Heaven’s Goddess had seven beautiful daughters. One day she decided to send them down to Earth. The seven sisters went to take a bath in a river. They left all their clothes on its shore. Soon after an ox herder came along and decided to play a trick on them. He hid all their clothes and waited to see what will happen. The youngest one, which also happened to be the most ravishing one, went on the shore and look for their clothes. But since the herder saw her naked, they had to get married. They fell in love and started their life on Earth. But the Goddess of Heaven got angry, because of the long absence of her daughter and summoned her back to Heaven. When she realized how much the young couple loved each other, she let her daughter visit her husband once a year – on the seventh day of the seventh month.
