Summer in Australia means beach BBQs, long days at the beach and lots and lots of pool parties. It’s also a time where the Aussies celebrate their national day “Australia Day” which is on tomorrow the 26th of January. Australia Day commemorates the arrival of the First Fleet at Sydney Cove in 1788.
Aussies get the day off work and usually have a BBQ with their friends and family and listen to the national radio station count down the hottest 100 songs of the year. So while the rest of us are up here in the Northern Hemisphere freezing cold, the Aussies are down there enjoying the heat and celebrating their national holiday.
We have a staff member who is from Australia and she was lucky enough to get some time off to go home for Christmas and most of January, she’s there right now in fact with plenty of Sky Lanterns in tow. She used them on New Year’s Eve at a party in Airlie Beach and everyone who saw them up in the sky came up and asked questions about where to buy them and so on.
They were an absolute hit, everyone loved them! She even had to stop some young boys from running off with the rest of the unused lanterns! I hope she has some left for Australia Day tomorrow because it sounds as though the Aussies love Sky Lanterns.
